Meera - Henna Party - May 21st, 2009

Just a few days after I photographed their engagement party, I had the pleasure of joining Meera, Simon and their families for another celebration - Meera’s Henna party! It was a nice, laid back affair at Meera’s parents house and gave me another opportunity to get to know the families and guests before the wedding.

Karen & David - Engagement Session - May 20th, 2009

Could someone please send a memo to my single friends telling them to sign up to E-Harmony? It seems that more and more of my couples have met each other online and they all are just so happy & in love! Karen & David are a prime example! For their engagement session, we decided to go to Springbank Park as not only was it where they went on their first date but also where David proposed! We took some photos of them on the bench he proposed on… love that!

The very bench David proposed on!!

Back online!!!

If you’re a regular blog reader, or a facebook fan (hint, hint) I’m sure you noticed that both our blog and client gallery sites haven’t been working the past few days. Not sure exactly how or what happened but it seems that a malicious file was uploaded to our server and crashed them both. Luckily, we were able to retrieve them and only lost a few blog posts (you’ll notice that the most recent few had commentary but now don’t - working on that!)

On a personal note, the past few weeks have been a bit of an emotional roller coaster… my Grandma had a stroke about 2 years ago and has been slowly recovering since. Iris got to meet her Great-Grandma for the first time on May 29th and about a week later Great-Grandma had another stroke and now is back in rehab. I’m extremely close to my grandma and I feel so lucky that we were able to get some beautiful photos of them together in her apartment before she had the stroke.

Add this to shooting loads of weddings & engagement sessions the past couple of weeks, frantically trying to get the sites back online & still adjusting to life as new mom I’m a little overwhelmed! Next week was reserved for my birthday & wedding anniversary, but it looks like it’s going to be “business week” so I can get caught up on all our album orders, emails, etc. etc. If you’ve sent us an email in the past week or so and haven’t heard back, we appreciate your understanding & patience and will respond soon!

Also,  A belated Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there - new, old & soon-to-be. It was a very special celebration for our family - my husband grew up with a single mom so this is the first Father’s day he’s ever celebrated in any capacity! This is my favorite daughter & dad photo I’ve taken so far of Iris and Eric:

Rebecca & Roland - Engagement Session - May 18th, 2009

Rebecca and Roland are one of those couples who just seem to fit together… add their adorable puppy to the mix and they’re the perfect little family! Their wedding is coming up quickly - August 1st, just over a month away! I can’t wait to see Rebecca’s dress & accessories - anyone who can rock a pair of white pants and matches their shoes to their outfit makes my camera very happy!!

Meera & Simon - Engagement Party - May 17th, 2009

Meera & Simon’s engagement party was the first event I was invited to photograph as part of their wedding celebrations! It was quite the festive occasion with a fantastic dance routine put on my Meera’s Aunties. Meera & her maid of honour also did a performance and Simon joined them halfway through - if there was ever any doubt, I’m sure him taking part in their dance routine proved that he’s completely devoted to Meera… it was so sweet!! Stay tuned for many more photos of this great couple - a few days later I photographed Meera’s henna party and then their wedding!

Sandra & Darren’s - Wedding Album

Whenever an album arrives it feels like Christmas - I can’t wait to open it and see how it looks! When I received Sandra & Darren’s album and opened it up, the first words out of my mouth were “Holy crap!!” - it just looked SOOOO good!! The combination of the vivid colours in Sandra’s wedding details & the bright pink cover, Lindsay’s fabulous design and some pretty good photos if I do say so myself make this an absolutely fantastic album! I showed my mom and she got goosebumps! I couldn’t get this album out of my mind so ended up ordering a sample for my office. Can’t wait for it to arrive so I can show it off to everyone!

Jenny & Chris - Engagement Session - May 17th, 2009

I had a really good little story written up for Jenny & Chris’ photos but it got lost in our blog crash so lets see if I can remember what I said the first time…

You may recognize this couple from the family session I did for them just a few weeks ago. It was great to see them again so soon, Jenny & Chris are just too cute - I love these two! Chris is a firefighter and we wanted to incorporate that into our shoot somehow. I’ve my eye on this funky mural of an old firetruck for ages and they were just the couple to take to it… if you live anywhere in the vicinity you probably heard me scream as I saw it being painted over just two days before our shoot!! With some last minute location scouting, I was able to find a cool looking fire hall to take them to!

During our session, I noticed that Jenny & Chris had matching engagement rings and I knew there would be a good story behind them. Years before he met Jenny, Chris came up with a ring design that symbolized what marriage meant to him. He had these rings made and waited for the right girl to come along. When he presented Jenny with the ring, she initially refused it as she thought it had been made for someone else! Once she found out that no, it had been waiting for her to come along she happily accepted. I love stories like that! Jenny & Chris: You guys have been a blast to work with so far, I can’t wait for your wedding day - I just know we’re going to have so much fun!

Juliette & Lee - May 16th, 2009

Juliette and Lee are yet another amazing referral from our wonderful clients Jason and Henrietta. I am always thrilled to hear that they have sent along a friend to us as I know that an incredible wedding is on the way (and it is also nice to see familiar faces!)
I don’t think I will verbally do justice to the love we saw and felt at Juliette and Lee’s wedding, so hopefully these photos will speak for themselves. It really was an incredible day and we were so honoured to be a part of it. I can’t wait to show them the rest of their photos!

A couple that rocks! Here are Jason and Henrietta.

Connor is almost 6 months old!

We are having such an incredible time being new parents to this amazing little guy. It seems he is growing and learning new things everyday. He can roll, sit up (for a little while until he topples over…darn that big head) he has even started exploring solid foods!

We are enjoying every moment and can’t wait to see what the next day brings…and we are happy to have tonnes of photos to look back on now that the sleep deprivation fog has lifted!

Rachael & Gabriel - May 16th, 2009

When I photographed Rachael & Gabriel’s engagement session back in the fall, Rachael and I looked each other up and down a few times before she cautiously asked me “are you pregnant?” I replied that yes, indeed I was and asked her the same question (and got the same answer!) We were due just a few weeks apart - little Nathan joined their family at the end of February. I always think it’s so special when a couple is able to include their children in their wedding day…. Nathan was a little too young to partake in the ceremony but  their three older children were the ring bearer and flowergirls and provided endless photo opportunities for adorable pictures. Seeing so many cute kids at a wedding made me even more excited for Lindsay’s upcomming wedding (as if it’s possible for me to be more excited!) as Connor will be her cutie little ring bearer (hey Linds - does he need a date, I know a girl named Iris who’s looking for one that day!)

Bellamere is always one of my favorite spots for photos, I love the rustic look to it. I was worried about rain earlier in the day but the sun was shining by the time the ceremony was over. The covered veranda shaded the couple and allowed for some exquisite backlighting during our photo session.  An avid photographer himself, Gabriel pointed out to me many times how he would have much rather been the photographer… paired with Rachael I think he makes a pretty good subject too!
