bride and groom kissing

Bethany & Matt thoroughly enjoyed their wedding day and we've got the photos to prove it! It was such a fun time following these two around all day to capture all of the magic and love. I especially LOVED that our bride kicked off her shoes and hiked to the bottom of a waterfall on our quest for beautiful wedding party photos. The Ancaster Mill is a gorgeous one stop spot for ceremony and reception and the weather was just perfect for their outdoor ceremony. We had a chance to sneak the newlyweds out of the party for a few minutes to capture some fun photos once the sun had set before saying goodbye.

Emily + Nick
{Ancaster Old Mill Wedding Photography}

I'm not sure why it always rains when we're about to photograph an outdoor wedding at Ancaster Mill...but thankfully it seems to clear up just in time like it did for Emily and Nick! So much love at this wedding and we were so happy to capture all of the sweet moments. This also marks one of the yummiest dinners I have had at a wedding!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: fun, romantic, celebratory

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Seeing Nick's smiling face as I walked down the aisle; being able to celebrate the day with so many of our friends and family (Unfortunately one of Nick's grandmothers has since passed on, but we will always have the memory of her celebrating with us)
Groom: Seeing Emily for the first time as she walked down the aisle

Best wedding related decision: Our venue

Favourite detail: The handmade guest book Emily made

Advice for future brides & grooms: Take time to enjoy the day, and don't sweat the small stuff (even if your husband loses your wedding speech!)

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? Nope!

Best surprise of the day: The rain stopping just in time for our outdoor ceremony and the sun coming out for pictures

Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?): How can we pick just one?! We love the black and white picture of us kissing on the covered bridge. The black and white is very classy, and I love our shadows on the ground behind us. We also love the picture of us looking at the camera with the blurred waterfall in the background. The waterfall is what sold us on the venue.

WEDDING SONGS: Entrance: You make my dreams by Hall and Oats | First Dance: Feels like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk | Father & Daughter: Somewhere over the rainbow/Wonderful World: Israel kamakawiwo'ole | Mother & Son: All my life: The Beatles

We love running into past HRM couples at weddings! Janine & Chris and Stephanie & Ben were both in attendance!

Heather + Matthew
{Ancaster Mill Wedding Photography}

I love photographing weddings as we are always surrounded by love, but this wedding was one of the ones that felt as though we were wrapped in an extra layer of love! Heather and Matthew are such lovely people and I admit that I shed a few tears and had goosebumps during their first look (I mean, can you blame me?) Matthew was over the moon waiting to set eyes on his bride as we stood next to a waterfall watching leaves fall from the trees like snow. It was MAGICAL. The cherry on top of this cake was working alongside Greg from AV Artisan Productions. Hands down my favourite videographer to work with. Seriously. Call him!

This moment is almost always my favourite photo from a wedding day (including at my own wedding that Heather photographed!)

Marnie + Darren
{Ancaster Mill Wedding Photography}

Looking back through Marnie & Darren's photos brings me back to a beautiful sunny day. We love the beautiful grounds of the Ancaster Mill and were happy that the newlyweds along with their wedding party braved the heat and mosquitos to sneak off to a beautiful treed area for some fun photos with the whole bunch. Marnie and Darren also had some great personal touches to their celebration such as the greek dancing and cigar lounge. I can't wait for warm spring days and our fabulous 2014 weddings that are just around the corner!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Simple, elegant, fun.

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Seeing friends and family from different parts of our lives all having fun together.

Groom: Enjoying scotch and cigars by the fireplace.

Best wedding related decision: Ancaster Mill (Kathy and everyone at the Ancaster Mill made the whole planning process simple and thought of every detail for us), and HRM (We're so happy with our photos, and Lindsay and everyone at HRM have been so kind and fun to work with).

Favourite detail: The homemade baklava provided by Darren's Mom and Aunt.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Focus on the things that are really important to you about your wedding, and don't get too caught up worrying about other details. Graciously accept help when it is offered.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? Nothing substantial. Maybe Darren would have worn his fake mustache during our entrance. Marnie would have found a better instructional video on YouTube to learn how to do the traditional Greek wedding dance.

Best surprise of the day: How much food we actually got to eat. The kind people at The Ancaster Mill really took care of us, even following us around with appetizers as we took photos.

Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?):#345 because of how it captures our natural expressions.
