Spring Wedding

Nita + Dhivakar
{Hockley Valley Resort Wedding Photography}

What can I say about Indian weddings... I just love photographing them! Nita and Dhivakar wanted a destination type feeling to their wedding, classic and unique is what I would call it! I absolutely loved their beautiful outdoor Hindu ceremony at the beautiful Millcroft Inn, followed by the reception at the Hockley Valley Resort. The one thing that stood out to me was how amazing their outdoor ceremony came together, giving me some great ideas for my own wedding inspiration. There was rain threatening us that morning and the timing just worked out in our favour as the rain came after ceremony and photo session! The beautiful forest setting at The Millcroft Inn was pretty spectacular and suited the day so well!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Springtime, new beginnings

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: I think my favourite memory was relaxing after the hustle and bustle of planning, and enjoying the day. The most magical part of the day for me was walking down the aisle. The combination of my song, the weather, the beautiful venue, seeing all of the loved ones around supporting us and sharing our day, and knowing that my husband was waiting at the alter for me, came together in one very magical moment.
Groom: If I had to pin point a moment, it would be the entrance of my beautiful bride. There are a lot of colours, sounds which make up an outdoor Indian Wedding. However, none compete with your bride!

Best wedding related decision: We made a list before starting the wedding with things that were important to us, and things that we were willing to sacrifice in our planning. This made it easier to allocate funds during the planning. I also think that it was important not to stress the small details on the day of the wedding. It is very easy to get wrapped up in last minute changes, but the day goes by so fast, and if you aren’t present, it is easy to miss it. Lastly, one of the best decisions that I made was having Niki photograph our wedding. We will look back on these pictures for years to come, and will be reminded of how special the day was. She captured every moment beautifully!

Favourite detail: There are so many details that I loved, it is difficult to narrow it down to just one. If I were to chose a couple, I absolutely loved the venue for the wedding. I fell in love with the wedding garden as soon as I saw it. The food at both venues was out of this world, absolutely amazing. I also loved the decoration and centrepieces at the reception. I had spent a lot of time coming up with ideas, and growing grass in pots, and I had amazing friends who I could explain my vision to, and they were able to execute it perfectly!

Advice for future brides & grooms: A friend told me, the night before my wedding, to take mental snapshots of the day, with memories that you want to cherish. This was probably the best advise that I got, the day went by so fast, but there were moments throughout the day that I will remember for the rest of my life. It is cliche, but don’t stress over the small things. There is a lot of planning, but the day goes by so quickly that all of those small details will not be what you look back on and remember.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? I honestly don’t think that I would have changed anything — I would have made it 5 degrees warmer, but unfortunately I can’t control the weather!

Best surprise of the day: The best surprise for me was probably the day after the wedding. It was my birthday, and my husband arranged a breakfast birthday celebration for me with the guests who were staying at the hotel with us.

Erin + Ryan
{Strathroy Ontario Wedding Photography}

Erin and Ryan had a beautiful wedding reception on her parent's farm, the apple orchard was in bloom and there was no shortage of amazing photo locations! They were married at the same church Erin's Parents were married over 30 years before! At the reception the bride surprised the groom with a drone as a gift!!

Tasha + Derreck
{Atlantis Pavilions Wedding Photography}

So much care, thought and amazing DIY craftiness went in to the preparations for Tasha and Derreck's wedding and it was a pleasure to capture it all in photos. There were many highlights from the day but I think our evening rooftop photo shoot with the cinesphere in the background takes the cake!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Romantic, Elegant, Personal, Classy

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Seeing Derreck for the first time, I almost wanted to run down to him, and I kept being told to slow down lol, Putting on my dream dress, reading the vows he wrote me, that feeling of euphoria that this day has finally arrived!
Groom: Hearing Tasha's vows, seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress, and she looked absolutely beautiful. Seeing the vision we had for our wedding come to life, it was incredible!

Best wedding related decision: There is quite a few! Trying to do as much as DIY as we humanly can in terms of decoration, and small things here and there, because seeing the things we had made around the room kept making us smile and realizing our hard work had paid off. Guest were coming up to us telling us how personal our wedding feels, which we absolutely loved. Our awesome photographer Lindsay Ross from HRM Photography, she was a pleasure to work with and I will continue recommending HRM to every single person! Our videographer Greg Idasz from AV Artisan was absolutely fantastic. Pictures and your wedding film is what is going to keep reminding us of our very special day, so we went with the best!

Favourite detail: the lit lanterns, our DIY centrepieces with pictures of us from all the places we had visited together, just reminds us how blessed and lucky we are to not only have each other but to go on so many adventures together.

Advice for future brides & grooms: Start DIY projects early and try to do as much as you can yourselves because it would mean that much more the day of the wedding. Do not sweat the small details, and do not stress the day of the wedding and enjoy it as much as you can. It will be one of the most happiest moments of your lives, and no one will notice the missing small details you were sweating about. Family and friends come to celebrate the love you share and that is all that matters.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? Nothing! It was a dream come true for us smile

Best surprise of the day: Getting to read the vows in the drawing Derreck gave me.

Anything else you'd like to add: Research and splurge on things that matter the most in your wedding. For us it was photography and videography, and seeing the pictures (both engagement and wedding) we are so happy to have made the right choice with HRM photography! Both Heather (engagement) and Lindsay (wedding) are outstanding ladies, best in the photography industry, and have given us the gift of reliving our day through these pictures smile We will surely be going to HRM photography for any future photography needs.
