Kate & Keir

Bellamere Wedding

Kate and Keir picked a great day to get married – July 2nd was my 5th wedding anniversary! I was happy to spend the day with such a great group of people – they definitely had the same attitude I had towards my wedding 5 years before… one big party!!! Kate had the biggest smile on her face all day long and it was simply infectious!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less:
– Love, Laughter, and a Lively Dance Party

What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: I will never forget the moment of coming around the corner to see Keir for the first time. I was so nervous and excited! I also loved seeing friends and family from different parts of our lives drinking and dancing together, and getting along so well!
Groom: Standing up at the front while Kate and her parents walked down the aisle, and looking around at all of our friends and family, is a moment I’ll never forget.

Best wedding related decision: We are so happy that we decided to have our speeches and toasts during dinner. By the time the dessert plates were cleared, all of our guests could get some fresh air, grab a drink from the bar, and get their dancing shoes on!

Favourite detail: We were blown away by all of the flowers (and especially the bouquets) that our friend and bridesmaid Rowena put together. They were simply sensational!

Advice for future brides & grooms: Delegate tasks to your family and friends.  And on the big day especially, just relax and let other people worry about the details.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? I would have kept our photographers around for the whole night! Heather and her assistant left before dinner, and it would be wonderful to have some photos of guests at dinner, the speeches, and of course the DANCING!

Best surprise of the day: The best surprise of the WEEK was that Keir’s sister Caleigh showed up from Australia and surprised the whole family. No one was expecting her! We were so touched that she made the long journey (and amazed that she managed to keep it a secret!)

VENDORS : Ceremony & Reception Location – Bellamere Winery and Event Venue  |  Officiant: Lynn St. Jacques – she was wonderful!  | Cake: We made our own desserts from favorite family recipes.  | Dress: I wore my Grandma’s gown from the 1930’s for the ceremony and dinner. For the reception, I changed into a cocktail dress from Pam Chorley’s Fashion Crimes in Toronto.  | Wedding Planner: Karen Spoto from Bellamere. | Flowers/Decorator: Rowena Day – one of our beautiful and talented bridesmaids, based out of Boston.  | Hair/Makeup: Sidestreet Salon | DJ: Rick Addy | Other: Special thanks to McInnis Flowers for letting Rowena use their space! They were incredibly helpful and generous.

WEDDING SONGS: Processional & Recessional: A family friend, Oliver Whitehead, very generously agreed to play classical guitar, with his friend John Montgomery accompanying on flute. The selections they chose were perfect.   | Entrance: “You are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontange | First Dance: “First Day of my Life” by Bright Eyes | Parent Dances: “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor

We don’t often photograph the groom getting ready, but had fun with Keir & his groomsmen as the sampled some scotch and made a few toasts

Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?):It’s so hard to choose one – 720 is definitely a favorite. It is simply stunning, and the location was so lovely and unexpected. (below on left)
