We could feel the excitement and anticipation Katie and Keegan had on their wedding day and were so happy to capture all of the memories for them throughout the day. The best part was having a couple who were just as excited for the photos!! I am looking forward to seeing Katie as a Bridesmaid at her friend Christina’s wedding next summer.

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Intimate, classic, romantic, and family & friends
What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Walking down the aisle with my Dad and seeing Keegan for the first time, exchanging our vows, dancing the night away with family and friends.
Groom: Seeing Katie walk down the aisle.Best wedding related decision:Incorporating as many personal touches as we could throughout the day. It was very important to us that as many of our close friends and family as possible were involved, and had special roles in the day. We also had a display board of old wedding photos of family members, and a slideshow featuring different photos of us with most of the guests at the wedding. The ‘theme’ of our wedding was also chosen for a very special and personal reason, as explained below.
Favourite detail: Our ‘bird’ theme. For example, our centrepieces were birdcages, we used a wedding wishing tree instead of a guest book, and our cake topper was love birds. My (Katie’s) beloved Grampie, who passed away in December 2009, loved birds, and so this theme was chosen as a tribute to him and a way to have him be a part of our day. A beautiful cross he had given me was also incorporated into my bouquet.
Another detail we loved was that the labels on the wine bottles we gave as favors stated, “A Toast to Great Chemistry!” (Fitting, as we are both Ph.D. students in Chemistry.)
Advice for future brides & grooms: The day does go by so fast, so try as best as you can to take in every moment. I’m sure many others have told you this – but it’s true!
Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? No! We had an amazing day and it went so smoothly!
Best surprise of the day: My (Katie’s) mom giving a speech. Prior to the wedding day, she told me that she did not want to give a speech as she would be too nervous and emotional. We are very close, so I was a little disappointed she did not want to speak, but I understood. Then, during the reception, our MC announces that an unexpected guest would like to give a speech – and it was my Mom! Her speech was amazing.
Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?): It is almost impossible to choose just one, but we particularly love #238. This is a nice quiet moment together after we walked back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony. The stained glass framing us is just beautiful!
Anything else you’d like to add: Hiring HRM to photograph our wedding day was another one of the best wedding related decisions that we made. They are amazing to work with and did such a fabulous job capturing all of the special moments of our day. Several friends and family have commented to us that ours are some of the best wedding photos they have even seen!
